Around six years of age most children will begin to experience change in dentition. Some will lose their lower front two teeth and two permanent teeth will emerge in their place. Other children will notice new six-year molars erupt in the back of the mouth. One molar will be in each quadrant. A few youngsters will have both of the aforementioned scenarios happen simultaneously.
The important thing for parents and caregivers to realize is that all three scenarios are completely normal. Every child is different, but all three patterns are considered within normal limits.
Oftentimes we feel like every other child in our circle is going through a pattern different from ours. Rest assured that most children will go through both changes within a short period of time.
