Seeing your dentist regularly is vital because it helps keep problems from developing (think tooth decay, gum disease) and also allows us to take care of issues while they are easily and least invasively resolved. But there are times when you might need to come in to be seen in between your scheduled checkups. Today, our team at the dental practice of Pamela Crumrine DDS in Beaver, Pennsylvania, is pleased to review what those times are.

Let’s take a look:

— Experiencing pain in the mouth, face or neck area is a sign that something isn’t right and should be evaluated.

— Your gums are swelling or bleeding when you practice your daily oral hygiene routine.

— You are reluctant to smile because you have a lost tooth, stained teeth, etc. We can whiten your teeth and replace lost teeth allowing you the freedom to feel good about your smile again.

— Pregnancy can impact your oral health, particularly your gums. Don’t skip dental checkups during this important time.

— Pain when you chew or swallow. This is a sign that something is wrong, and while you are waiting to be seen, stick to a soft food diet or liquids.

— Having a persistently dry mouth might be a side effect of taking medications or some other medical issue.

— Common sores in the mouth include canker sores, cold sores, candidiasis. But if you have unusual spots that just don’t heal after a week or two, you should have it evaluated. Causes might include bacterial infection, virus, fungus or a disease.

If you are experiencing unusual oral activity, we invite you to come in to have it addressed. Call 724-775-4860 to be seen by our dentist. Dr. Pam Crumrine is here to provide you with the quality care you deserve.
